Moseley law in Hindi |

जैसे Hf (72), In (61), Re (75) आदि।

Moseley’s law | Atomic and Molecular physics

Moseley’s law According to it, the frequency of a spectral line in X-ray spectrum varies as the square of the atomic number of the element emitting it. If 𝜈 is the frequency of spectral line in X-ray spectra and Z is the atomic number of element, then 𝜈 = Z 2 ⇒ √𝜈 ∝ Z or √𝜈 = a (Z – b ) Here (Z – b ) is the effective atomic number of emitting element and b is the characteristic constant or screening constant. Importance of Moseley’s law The characteristic property of an element depends on their atomic number, not on their masses. So the position of some elements in periodic table was rearranged. On the basis of Moseley law some new elements of periodic table was discovered like Hf (72), In (61), Re (75) etc. Explanation of Moseley’s law on the basis of Bohr’s theory The energy of electron in n 1 and n 2 orbits are given by Since the positive nucleus is screened by rest of the electrons. Therefore we...

Degeneracy in Hindi

X-किरण स्पेक्ट्रम | X-ray spectrum in Hindi | Atomic and Molecular physics

Introduction of quantum mechanics in Hindi

de Broglie hypothesis | Quantum mechanics | Physical basis of quantum mechanics

de Broglie hypothesis According to de-Broglie, a wave is always associated with every moving particle. This wave is known as de-Broglie wave or matter wave. It means a matter wave have particle nature as well as wave nature i.e., dual nature. From quantum theory of radiation, energy of photon, E = h𝝂,    where  𝝂 = frequency of incident photon . From Einstein’s theory of relativity E = √(m 0 2 c 4 + p 2 c 2 ) If m 0  = 0, then E = pc,  p = momentum and c = velocity of light Now E = h𝝂 and E = pc ∴     h𝝂 = pc     or     p = h𝝂/c ∵      c = 𝝂λ      or     λ = c/𝝂 ∴      p = h/λ     or     λ = h/p     This is known as de-Broglie wavelength This wavelength is always associated with a photon Since momentum is the characteristic of particles, and the wavelength is characteristic o...

X-ray spectra | Quantum mechanics | Atomic and Molecular Physics

X-ray spectra X-rays X-rays were discovered by a German physicist Wihelm Conrad Roentgen in 1895 during the study of the properties of cathode rays. These rays are actually electromagnetic rays of lower wavelengths having range from 10 Å to 0.5 Å. Higher wavelength side X-rays are soft X-ray and the lower wavelength side X-rays are hard X-ray. Properties of X-rays Since the X-rays do not deflect by electric and magnetic fields, hence they does not consist of charged particles. X-rays are electromagnetic radiation of very short wavelength. X-rays affect photographic plate like light, but their effect is much more intense than light. X-rays travel in straight lines with the velocity of light. They produce fluorescence in several materials. X-rays ionize the gas through which they pass. X-rays have high penetrating power and can pass through many solids. They produce photo electric effect also. X-rays also show in...

Operators | Quantum mechanics | Wave function and Schrodinger equation

Operators All the physical quantities obtained by observations or measurements are observable quantities. In quantum mechanics all the physical quantities can be represented by operators. Operator is a mathematical law, which operated on a given function changes it into a new function. If  = operator, which operated on a given function f (x) provide a new function ϕ (x), then                      f(x) = ϕ (x)  Above equation is known as operator equation . Gamma ray microscope method | Quantum mechanics | Physical basis of quantum mechanics

Proof of uncertainty principle Gamma ray microscope method (Thought experiment) Let electron whose position (x) and momentum (p) is to be determined is initially at P From diffraction theory, the limit of resolution of microscope               Δx = λ / 2 sin θ Δx = Distance between two points upto which they can be seen separately. Δx = Maximum uncertainty in position of electron Since the wavelength of 𝛾-ray is small, so we choose it because it decreases Δx Let at least one 𝛾-ray photon be scattered by the electron into the microscope so that the electron is visible. In this process the frequency and wavelength of the scattered photon is changed and the electron suffers a Compton recoil by gaining the momentum. If λ = wavelength of the scattered photon, then the momentum of the scattered photon, p = h / λ Since the scattered photon can be scattered in any direction from PA to PB, so the x-compone...
