Zener diode and voltage regulation

  • A device which is used to convert alternating current (or voltage) into direct current (or voltage) is known as rectifier, and the process of converting a.c. into d.c. is known as rectification. The voltage obtained from a rectifier depends on the input a.c. voltage. It means with the variation in the input a.c. voltage the output of a rectifier also varies, and it does not remain constant, hence we get an unregulated output. The method used to make the output d.c. voltage constant or stable is voltage stabilization or voltage regulation, and the device which is used to make the output d.c. voltage constant is voltage stabilizer or voltage regulator. The main application of zener diode is that it provide a constant d.c. output, so it is used in voltage regulator circuit. So in this session we have discussed about the zener diode and voltage regulation. This session is divided into two parts firstly we discuss about the voltage regulation, where we discuss about the line regulation, load regulation, series regulator circuit and shunt regulator circuit. In the next session we discuss about the voltage stabilization by zener diode. Here we discuss how a zener diode stabilize the voltage and the operation of voltage stabilizer circuit using the zener diode. All these things are discussed here in this lecturer in Hindi and in English language, so it is better to understand the student of Hindi and English mediums. This topic is related to electronics and solid state physics.

Phase space and density function | Statistical mechanics

Phase space and density function Phase space or ЁЭЪк space In classical mechanics the position of a point particles is described in terms of three Cartesian coordinates x, y, z. And the state of motion of particle is described in terms of velocity component с║Л, с║П, ┼╝ or momentum coordinates p x , p y , p z . We imagine a 6-d space in which the six coordinates are x, y, z and p x , p y , p z are marked along six mutually perpendicular axes in space. The combined position and momentum space is known as phase space or ╬У space . A point in the phase space represents the position and momentum of the particle at some particular instant. Density function Let a classical system has a large number of molecules (N) occupying a large volume V. Generally N = 10 23 molecules and V = 10 23 molecular volumes or N → ∞ and V → ∞ N/V = v ; here v = a specific volume, which is a finite number. The system will be regarded as isolated in the sense that the ener...
